"Merry Christmas" from Preston
After successfully navigating my way down Fishergate Street; past the teenage chavs stood smoking outside McDonalds, through a couple’s domestic and around some drunks sat outside a betting shop, I managed to find a family who seem approachable enough
to ask what time the lights were coming on.
After been told that they “didn’t
have a f**king clue” I then approached an event steward who was almost as
helpful.
“I don’t know if you’ve heard of any of the acts, because I
haven’t” he commented has he sheepishly presented me with a laminated copy of
the events line-up “and the hosts, Glen and Lorna, they sound like someone’s
next door neighbors to me”.
With that I bid farewell to the Christmas lights switch on for another year and promised myself, never again.

Why Journalism?
What makes you want to be a journalist?
After studying Fashion Brand Management at the University of Central Lancashire and attending various fashion events, I decided that I needed to improve my writing skills. I set up North West Fashion LTD after graduating which is a website designed to promote local fashion related companies, events and job vacancies. I found myself writing a lot of articles including, event and product reviews, trend reports and interviews – which is something I had no previous experience of before.
From studying MA Magazine Journalism I hope to write better features, improve my interview skills and bring well written and interesting content to the readers. My main interest (as seen in some of my other blog posts), is attending events and writing pieces about them – making the events accessible to a wider audience and bring new information and ideas to those who were unable to attend.
